In my opinion, back in the day, the biggest problem (not the only
problem) with COBOL was that it cost several thousand dollars to get a
license for it,. (This is no longer the case, with gnu cobol.) But I
have heard jokes about padding line counts, also.

Nowadays, in my opinion, the biggest problem with COBOL is that it
doesn't have opengl bindings....

But those aren't programming languages...

(Javascript is, though, so there's that.)
