This is sad news indeed for me. I worked with Roger in the late 80's in team building a financial analytic package for the then Reuters. I feel privileged to have been his colleague both at IP Sharp Associates and then later as part of a Reuters project team.
I well recall one time when we were having a team diner on one of my regular visits to Toronto me asking Roger what he would like to drink before we eat. "I don’t drink. I have a finite number of brain cells and I want to preserve them all" was the reply. Long live Roger! I feel honoured to claim that I worked with you at one stage and I was always in awe of your intellectual and well-reasoned approach. But for over 20 years he has existed for me as a towering presence in the world of computer science. For me he will never die.
