Hi all, Just a quick memo to let you know that the Harpoon Search freesite search engine, http://harpoonsearch.cjb.net, is once again in full-time service. Apologies for some intermittent outage over the weekend while Harpoon was being moved to its new home on a permanent 24/7 Linux server. As part of the move to Linux, a regular freesite crawl is cron'ed for 00:03:00 GMT daily. The crawl takes approx 4 hours, so after about 04:00:00GMT daily, you'll be guaranteed fresh results with your searches, and before that time, your search results will be no more than 24 hours old. Upcoming features will be: * a CGI script for submitting new freesites (better for anonymity, since anonymous web proxies are easier to find than anonymous remailers). * Categorised index pointing to lots of handy websites and freesites Lastly, there are only 2 criteria for accepting site submissions: 1) The site *must* be visible!! Harpoon Search, due to automatic addition of new freesites, is uncensored. But it will (ovbiously) reject any sites it can't load!! So if you're submitting a site, *please* make sure it's visible, current, and inserted at htl > 40 (preferably 50 or more). 2) The site *must* be a standard 'MSK@SSK@blahblah/sitename//' freesite. Anything that can't be reached through a MSK@SSK@ URI will *not* be included in Harpoon's crawl.
