Hi all,

Hi all,

After some successful testing, I'm pleased to announce the release of
FreeWeb 0.1.4 alpha

Changes?

Mainly, the addition of freenet 0.4 compatibility, plus much general code
cleanup.

By default, FreeWeb will work in freenet 0.3 mode, meaning that it inserts
the old-style metadata in the 0.3 freenet.

But, if you have a 0.4 node installed, you can now insert freesites easily
into the new, smarter, faster, better, whiter 0.4 freenet.
To enable 0.4 compatibility, you'll need to open the options window and
select '0.4 metadata', and change the FPC port to 8481

In answer to those (eg Snarfoo) who accuse FreeWeb of "not working in 0.4",
I ask you to please first make sure that your 0.4 node is running.
With healthy 0.4 nodes, FreeWeb runs without problems. Especially if you
drop your htl to a value commensurate with the present size of the 0.4
freenet network.

IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO RUN FREEWEB FOR 0.3 AND 0.4 FREENETS SIMULTANEOUSLY.
Don't try it - you'll screw your freesite configs.
If you want to insert freesites into 0.3 and 0.4, you'll need to install 2
distinct instances of FreeWeb into separate directories.

As usual, info and downloads available from

Cheers
David
