in 2 jears, 400.000 in south africa died on AIDS. most couldn't
affort suitable medical help. oh well, it's their freedom to die
and suffer.
in 1998, nelson mandela signed a law that gives the victims
of HIV better acces to medicine, violating patents. the big
companies tried to stop the law. AFAIK, they succeded in Apr 2001.
Does it help anyone, when there is a cure for cancer, when noone
can afford it?
as far as the company that did the research is concerned:
and i'm sure some pharmazeutic companies are also non-tax-payers.
if all thos big companies would pay taxes (they don't in DE),
the gouverment would be able to give them financial reward for
helping the people with that cure.

as far as i'm concerned: Wrong.
i'd like to see such important areas of industry nationalized, so
research is done for the people, not for the money.
