I configure J to display verbs using its linear representation. With this, hooks get displayed differently from forks: ++++++++++ + (+ + + + + + + + +) You can also use this style when writing, though I often feel it's overkill. Note also that you get spaces between each verb in a train, in this representation. More generally, when I am trying to understand a verb, I like trying the verb with plausible data within a J session. If I still do not understand the verb, I often also experiement with sub-expressions. Or, if I do not comprehend anything about the verb's domain, I feel that the verb is improperly documented. -- Raul ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For information about J forums see http://www.jsoftware.com/forums.htm
