This version is a little bit different from my old Dos version. In many ways it is good fun but it is also a bit harder. The Dos version allows undo and that makes a big difference for kids I believe. This one is a bit of a challenge because if you make a wrong step you lose. I have been playing this off and on for many years so I find it good fun. I have also introduced it to others and ome find it fun. It is surely a good exercise in logic. If very young kids do have the patience to solve it they will obviously benefit. What age is right to start is hard to say. Guess it depends on the individual. I guess that it should be easy to make such a game in J. The pousse game is working with similar graphics. It would be good to get a bit softer version with undo possibilities like the Dos version. It is also a bit hard to distinguish these pictures. Especially it is hard to think about all the "same" numbers in different systems. In general I like this new version.
