I understand the concept, but interpreters tend to be rather
complex and need to deal with operating specific issues
such as garbage collection.  And, often enough, interpreters
must deal with iteration of various sorts.

Throwing an arbitrary interpreter at this sort of system would
just mean you need a fancier compiler for whatever language
the interpreter was written in.  And that would not be achieving
"not needing a compiler".
