It is not only in APL we have problems with characters.
I saw yesterday an official letter from the HP dealer here.

On the cover of the envelope there are problems with the address

"Baldurs vÚlsjóra" "780 Höfn Ý Hornafirði"

Should have been

"Baldurs vélsjóra" "780 Höfn á Hornafirði"

It may not seem much but as far as I am concerned it is very strange that a
major computer company can not write correctly the address of a valued
customer.

They have obviously not converted to Unicode and I am sure they have written
the correct text on the screen.

I see similar mismatch pretty much every day.

Like in my GPS then I tell the machine to go to a place and it looks ok when
I choose it but some of the characters look garbled on other screens where
it tells me the name of the destination.
