Richard,

Actually, the Palm Pre phone has all of the apps you mentioned in your
post , plus there is an extensive group of "homebrew" application
developers that have implemented many standard Linux urtlities such as
SSH on the phone. Palm seems much less controlling of the apps they
allow on the phone, Palm seems to allow all kinds of functions on the
phone that Apple or AT&T have banned on the iPhone (or the developers
have cracked the OS, and Palm hasn't protested much) .

I particularly like the MyTether app, which turns my Palm into a wi-fi
internet hotspot for my laptop (when I get tired of typing on the tiny
Pre keyboard, and squinting at the little screen). That same app also
lets me tether my laptop to the phone for USB wired tethering when
accessing the internet. Also I like the multitasking features so I can
talk on the phone while surfing the web. The Sprint "all you can eat"
data plans are much cheaper than AT&T as well.
