I am not a pundit on incumbent maps, but the EmbedObject
is a lame duck for iframe, and is better replaced by a separate
macro, GoogleMaps.

If you View Source and compare the result of EmbedObject and
HTML for Google Map (iframe with parameters), you'll see that
the result of EmbedObject is <object width=...> etc;
it is similar to the expected way of embedding Google maps:
<iframe width=...>.

Already there is a hyperlink to this page at the
jwiki/Community/Demographics. My purpose is to also embed an image of
the same link on that page to show the encumbent map on the jwiki.
Although the map can only be altered by clicking on the hyperlink, I
want users to be able to see the current map with its pushpins of J
users.

Google offers a way to embed such urls using <iframe>, but EmbedObject
cannot use <iframe>.

I just want to make clear that any such macro would need to access an
existing URL, but not to alter it.

I have had a short discussion on their forum:

The thread I have been involved in is entitled, "how to make my map
embeddable on others' sites". But you may have to register to see it.
