While I was on a business trip in China last month, my Lenovo T61 broke down.

My wife got it working but since I was a "Visitor" in her factory, she could
not supply me with a replacement unit. So what I did was "cloned" my Windows XP
Pro system using "VMware vCenter Converter" and got a trial version of VMware
Fusion and run the whole thing on my MacBook.

Now I'm back in Manila and our IT already returned the fixed machine to me (I'm
using it now). The thing is, once I start-up a local MS-Office 2007+MS-SQL
Server 2005 + IIS + Visual Studio .NET 2005 ... the whole thing slows down. I
can literally compare how better the performance of the virtualized OS on my
Mac over the actual machine with both Windows using 1GB RAM. Once I give the
virtual machine more memory (like 2GB) ... it stops being a contest, the
virtual machine will work better with the same software load.

It is very unfortunate that the company requires me to lug around my Lenovo ...
if not, I'll be exclusively using my MacBook with the virtualized Windows.
