Sorry about this but I was typing on my mac which doesn't have my J development libraries. I started to provide some sample then realized that it would really take too long. Still, I have verbs that creates SQL commands more efficiently and can distinguish between strings and numbers and formats datetime datatype properly.
Oh, I had to use direct sql statements because there is a requirement that all SQL commands pass through one enterprise DLL and nobody has access directly to the SQL server. I should really make better examples. ;) ________________________________________ From: [email protected] [[email protected]] On Behalf Of bill lam [[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, February 16, 2010 10:19 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [Jchat] Multiple cores mar, 16 Feb 2010, Alex Rufon skribis: > [data=.4 5 $ ;:'aa bb cc dd' > +--+--+--+--+--+ > |aa|bb|cc|dd|aa| > +--+--+--+--+--+ > |bb|cc|dd|aa|bb| > +--+--+--+--+--+ > |cc|dd|aa|bb|cc| > +--+--+--+--+--+ > |dd|aa|bb|cc|dd| > +--+--+--+--+--+ > '''',~ each '''', each data > +----+----+----+----+----+ > |'aa'|'bb'|'cc'|'dd'|'aa'| > +----+----+----+----+----+ > |'bb'|'cc'|'dd'|'aa'|'bb'| > +----+----+----+----+----+ > |'cc'|'dd'|'aa'|'bb'|'cc'| > +----+----+----+----+----+ > |'dd'|'aa'|'bb'|'cc'|'dd'| > +----+----+----+----+----+ > then I'll comma separate this data and eventually getting this result: > INSERT INTO test_table (f1,f2,f3,f4,f5) VALUES ('aa','bb','cc','dd','aa') > INSERT INTO test_table (f1,f2,f3,f4,f5) VALUES ('bb',cc','dd','aa','bb') > INSERT INTO test_table (f1,f2,f3,f4,f5) VALUES ('cc','dd','aa','bb','cc') > INSERT INTO test_table (f1,f2,f3,f4,f5) VALUES ('dd','aa','bb','cc','dd') Why didn't you insert these data directly from J using odbc? -- regards, ==================================================== GPG key 1024D/4434BAB3 2008-08-24 gpg --keyserver subkeys.pgp.net --recv-keys 4434BAB3 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For information about J forums see http://www.jsoftware.com/forums.htm ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For information about J forums see http://www.jsoftware.com/forums.htm
