He also presented some BBC programmes which were a great joy to see. 

Another mathematician who wrote a lot a very accessible books is Ian
Stewart, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ian_Stewart_(mathematician) , who
wrote for 10 years in Scientific American.
