There are tools in gtk. In JHS you are stuck with html and javascript
within the JHS framework. There is a steep learning curve. But the
facilities are incredibly powerful and they are improving and a very fast
rate.

The JHS demos try to make some of this stuff more accessible in a 'by
example mode'. Take one of the demos and study the script. They are pretty
simple. Read the minimal docs and try adding a button that adds a feature
to the app.

Perhaps the saving grace is that there are tons of html and javascript
resources. The JHS framework is simple and then the sky is your only limit.
