This is a restatement of a conversation I was sort of in yesterday, after a night's sleep:
J's syntax would the same as Joy's if, in Joy: 1. line begin is a beginning of quote operation 2. each word encountered is appended to the quoted list 2. line end (linefeed character) ends the quoting stage and processes the list (http://www.jsoftware.com/help/dictionary/dicte.htm describes the operation being inductively applied). (I'm not sure how this is useful, but it has to do with some terminology which was invented to describe languages.) A minor note is that J words form differently from Joy words -- if this detail is neglected you would have a smaller vocabulary to work with than you might otherwise have. -- Raul ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For information about J forums see http://www.jsoftware.com/forums.htm
