First, you've come to the right place :-) Thanks so much for your interest in the project and congratulations! Starting contributing to an Apache project is pretty straightforward. You just start playing with the sources [1] and find a specific area you'd mostly like to contribute in (if you don't already have one). As soon as you have some valuable piece of code (no matter how big or complex it is, it could even be a 1-line bug fix) you can open an issue on our issue tracker [2]) uploading a patch; in case an issue referring to your work is already existing, simply comment it and add your patch. Very important for us is also having you participating to discussions in our dev- mailing list! Technical tips here [3] Usually, after some time regularly contributing with patches and in mailing list, you should be proposed as a committer for the project; and that would be the time to switch to [4] :-) Looking forward to meeting you here!
