Subject: [Faculty] ExpEYES demo by Prof Ajith Kumar tomorrow (July 2) at ECG
    Sudarshan Hall from 2 PM

Hi,

It's a pleasure to announce a demonstration of the hands-on experiment kit ExpEYES (Experiments for Young Engineers and Scientists) by Ajith Kumar tomorrow (July 2) at ECG Sudarshan Hall from 2 PM. There will be tea/coffee from 3-3:30 pm.

About the demo:
ExpEYES (https://expeyes.in/) is an open-hardware and free-software framework designed to revolutionize science and engineering education through real-world, hands-on exploration. Originating from the PHOENIX project at the Inter-University Accelerator Centre (IUAC) in New Delhi, this innovative platform effectively converts any standard personal computer or consumer electronic device into a fully featured, flexible physics laboratory. The primary mandate of ExpEYES is to empower students, teachers, researchers, and hobbyists to seamlessly develop experiments, demonstrations, and multi-disciplinary science projects. It successfully bridges the gap between hardware interfaces and learners by eliminating the need for deep expertise in complex electronics engineering or advanced computer programming.

About the speaker:
Dr. Ajith worked as a senior scientist with Inter-University Accelerator Centre, New Delhi from 1985-2021. He did M.Sc and Ph.D. in Nuclear Physics from the University of Calicut and M.Sc in Accelerator Physics from the University of Manitoba, Canada. He worked mainly in the area of design and development of particle accelerators and instrumentation for associated experiments, including radio-frequency accelerating structures, control, and data acquisition systems, digital and radio frequency electronics modules. For the past several years he has been involved in promoting Free Software tools in Education. Has been pursuing academic community to include Python in their syllabus and has written a book 'Python for Education'. Dr. Ajith is involved in teacher training programs and has helped thousands of teachers to have hands-on experience with computer interfaced experiments and to take their first steps in the world of Free Software and Python.

Looking forward to see all of you there.
With regards,
Sitabhra
