Hello, Alvaro, Cherokee developers.

I represent OktetLABS - an embedded software developing company situated in
Saint-Petersburg, Russia. We mostly use open-source software in our
projects.

One of our current projects is developing embedded system management
software for a Swedish CPE vendor. We have selected u-Cherokee as a server
for our web-interface because of its rich features and low footprint. We
have been using it for almost a year now and it works very well. Thank you
all for such a great product!

I must say that low binary and resident sizes and high performance are very
important to us because, on a large scale, every Mb of flash and RAM and
every CPU MHz counts for our client.

Yesterday I have noticed an entry in the Cherokee ChangeLog which says, that
you have decided to abandon embedded version support. I understand that this
is no easy task, supporting additional branch of such a large project,
especially when there is no users of it, apparently.

But we really need the embedded branch. So, we are offering our help in
restoring it and maintaining its functionality. I cannot promise much of our
resources for maintenance, but following the main branch development and the
bug fixing will be provided.

I do not ask for SVN access right away. We could mail our patches as they
are finished.

So, will you accept having embedded branch restored and maintained by us?

Sincerely,
Nikolai Kondrashov,
the OktetLABS developer
