It was a PATH issue.I bet the problem is here. Why are you using busybox? It is nice to embedded systems, live CDs and things like that, but it isn't the best option for a development system. libtool seems to need a more powerful grep tool. Try with GNU grep, it should work perfectly. :-)
GNU grep was in /bin and BusyBox was in /usr/bin. /usr/bin was earlier in $PATH.
We didnt even know what BusyBox was, we certainly didnt know that it was installed !
cherokee now compiled and installed. All we have to do now is figure out how to configure it!
