I just installed cherokee-0.4.28 and I have to say that I'm am liking it
so far. I had a little problem setting up basic authentication and
finally realized that it's because I followed a bad example. That bad
example lies in the form of the admin module.
I honestly don't really know what the admin module does, or if it even
works (which I haven't gotten it to yet). However, in the configuration
of the admin module (mods-admin.sample) it leaves off the "Name" option
for the Auth section. This causes cherokee to return a 401 error
without prompting the user for a username and password. Once I added a
"Name" option to the Auth section, I was able to get a login prompt. I
would think that if one left out the "Name" option it would still
presesnt a login box, just with a default string.
Now, because I wanted to see what the admin module does, and I can't
find any documentation on it, I simple commented out the Auth section.
However, if I try to access /admin, it gives me a 400 Bad Request error
and spits out the HTTP request. I'm guessing that's not the correct
behavior. Does the admin module work? If so, what am I doing wrong?
Finally, is there a list of 3rd party modules? Are there any known? And
is there any documentation for writing plugin modules?
Thanks.
-John
BTW, is there a bug tracker for cherokee?
