Isn't it possible to:

- start cherokeead-minwith the -u option (unsecure - without password)
- firewall it - only allow 127.0.0.1 in hte firewall to connect
- make a virtual host in cherokee and let it reverse proxy to the
cherokee-admin providing htaccess or other authentication and perhaps
and SSL cert.
