Of course, it isn't that Cherokee is using 400MB of memory for itself. 
Actually, roughly 396 out of those 400MB of memory are virtual memory segments 
assigned for file mapping purposes.

If you don't want Cherokee to virtual memory manager to access/map files, you 
can disable 'I/O Cache'. In Cherokee-admin, you'll have to go to Advanced ➭ I/O 
Cache ➭ Status.
