I have just made a test, and everything seems to be working alright:

validator_mysql.c:0178 ( init_mysql_connection): Connected to
(localhost:3306)
validator.c:0144 (cherokee_validator_parse_basic): Parse basic auth got
user=alo, passwd=12tres45
validator_mysql.c:0259 (cherokee_validator_mysql_check): Query: SELECT
password FROM usuarios WHERE login = 'alo'
validator_mysql.c:0325 (cherokee_validator_mysql_check): Access to user alo
has been granted

Could you please paste you user table structure along with the SQL query you
are using?
