Is there a special case why you want to compile it instead of using the
packages provided at
https://launchpad.net/~cherokee-webserver/+archive/ppa ? I just think
using packages makes live a lot easier :)

I'm still a cheokee noob by myself but this error shouldn't affect the
admin interface (correct me if I'm wrong). Do you try to access it via
http://127.0.0.1:9090/ and not http://yourip:9090? Or what kind of error
do you see in your browser when you access the site?
