Thanks to all the posters in this thread. I have got it working after all. Strangely, it is as simple as Taher and Stefan mentioned, my problem was that I had an Ubuntu Upstart script that was starting up another test backend server and I did not explicitly press the "save" button when I changed the interpreter settings.
