That's most likely because Cherokee is launching a back-end server under
demand (you are using a Python, Ruby, PHP, Java back-end, aren't you?).
 Since it might take a few seconds to start some of those back-ends -
specially the first time - Cherokee can do nothing but reply that 503 error.

A few days ago, Antonio Perez committed a patch that may help to improve the
situation though. Cherokee 1.2.2 be able to delay/skip some of those 503
errors.

And when I stop cherokee server I get this error:

Cherokee execute quite a few of those while running. Even though of missing
the last one is not a perfect situation, it is not really important either.
It is fairly safe to just ignore it, actually.  -- Some times Cherokee can
be too verbose.
