I found a set of spindles for my brake swap today. Took quite a
while goin thru the yard to find the first candidate, then found several
station wagons with the 12" setup. I decided on a set from an 86
Caprice EstateWagon.
I know that I can use either the Camaro 1LE 12" rotors OR have a
set of the wagon rotors redrilled. Cost of the 2 are similar (after
machine work on the originals) . But, the Calipers for the 1LE are
about $100.00. Quite a bit more than the $45.00 wagon calipers.
Now my question for anyone with experience: Is there a different
caliper that will work with the 1LE rotor? Would the wagon caliper
work? I've heard that the wagon rotors are thicker, the minimum
thickness on the wagon rotors was 24.5mm (slightly less than 1") .
Does anyone know the thickness of the 1LE rotors?
Thanx for any info/help you can give.
