I don't think they are called RFI Filters. Those are connected to the
alternator if I remember correctly. These filters are connected to the
power to the stereo itself.

I was having this problem in my old 81 Camaro. It was especially bad
because I had a total of 900 watts bumping through the car. Took it back in
and they put the filters on and the whine went away.

I can say I would go to a well known shop in the area. These shops will run
you around 20% more but the install is done by certified techs with years of
experience, plus they are willing to stand behind what they sell you. In
Houston, I highly recommend Houston Car Stereo on Hillcroft between Westpark
and Harwin. The install in my 97 GMC is 100% whine free and sounding
beautiful. Shy away from A-1 here, sub standard installations, and they
will try and sell you off-brand equipment.

There is another possibility with the whine, however. Check your spark plug
wires. if they are improperly shielded they can cause the same type of
interference. The new Accel and MSD wires should be 100% shielded against
any type of electrical interference.

Let me know if this helps you at all
