Hey Guys -
A related but funny story. The 17-year-old kid who lives
next door to my brother buys a supposed mid-12 sec 5.0 Mustang
(actually, his old man bought it for him and the kid is supposed
to pay him back - yeah, right!). Anyway, the kid got the car
last Thurs. and has been bragging it up constantly about how fast
it is, doing smoky, fishtailing burnouts up and down the
neighborhood, racing anything that moves, etc., etc. You all
know the drill. Well, guess what happened on his first trip to
the Jersey Shore? He got his doors blown off by a new Vette on
the Garden State Parkway! Said the guy "slipped him a gear out
of nowhere" and took off like a shot. So much for being
invincable! (sp.?) Poor baby didn't have his 5.0 three days and
already got his ass handed to him. Another thing - I would have
expected this 5.0 (it's actually supposed to have some sort of
425hp stroker motor in it along with some mid-12 sec timeslips to
back it up) to beat the new Vette (it WASN'T a Z06, BTW), so
either the Vette wasn't stock or the kid doesn't really know how
to drive the car yet. Naturally my brother got in some
good-natured ribbing over the whole affair, and I didn't have the
heart to tell the kid that I'm replacing the 400+hp 406 in my
Chevelle with a 500+hp 427! Hmmm - wonder how the current engine
would do against him??? Anyway, I thought you all would
appreciate this story.
