Hey Jim,,,
It'll put out both,,,to check amps you'd have to basically use the meter
inline with the hot out of the alternator,,,sorta like you'd put in an inline
fuse per say...To check the volts,,as in checking alternator charging just
put the meter leads on the battery terminals with the motor off,,then
running,,,,,,running should be around 13.5 to 14.5 volts...you can have
someone vary the engine speed and see what happens,,should be fairly steady
if the regulator is working ok,,,,check it with all acess.,headlights,etc. on
too.....Set the meter for the next highest level above 12 volts DC
