Larry,
The accessory codes for '64- '67 Chevelles have been at least partially broken down by gleaning the info off the cowl tags for about the past 20 years and putting them in a relational database, after noting the options found on each car.  I don't have all the codes broken down, but have been able to find enough info to have a fairly high level of confidence in the ones we have.

Even so, the codes that have been found on  Chevelles from the Fremont and Framingham plants don't seem to be consistent with some of the other plants.  I've heard there's a Fisher body book out there somewhere that  contains allthe accessory code info, but haven't been able to track one down yet.  Anybody else know of anything?

Also, the accessory codes on the '69 and later cowl tags are way different than the earlier versions, and as yet have not been deciphered.  The author of "Chevrolet By The Numbers," Alan Colvin (an ACES Member, BTW) has told me that he has that info, but will not share it for fear that it would lead to rampant cloning of SS cars or building of Chevelles that are highly optioned.  My counter-argument is that there are already plenty of bogus cars out there now, and such info would be tremendously helpful in weeding out the fakes.  As an example, after the info was made public regarding the cowl tag info onthe Z16s and '67 Z28s, I didn't notice a proliferation of any 'fakes" in the marketplace.  Oh well, maybe in time he'll have a change of heart, or maybe the info doen't exist in the first place....

where did you actually come up with the codes? Do you have a certain book you
use or ???? I have several and have had a hard time finding anything of
value. I for one would like to know where to look and I'm sure my fellow list
members would like this information too.
also looking forward to meeting you next month in Washington. I'm one of the
first members of "Chevelles and El Caminos of Oregon," the club will be up
there in full force.
