Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List ------------------------------------------------------------ Does anyone know of a source or have a pair of the trunk torque rods that hold the trunk lid open? (for a 1971 sport coupe) I was driving along yesterday and heard a loud "BANG"! I couldn't find anything wrong till I got to the show and then when opening the trunk found the end of one rod laying in the trunk and not enough lift to hold the trunk lid open. Startled the sh*t out me. Any help would be appreciated. Also I looked in my owners manual and found the picture of the SS with the stripes all the way down the bumper. Interesting that shot made it to the manual. I have a 71' assembly manual that shows the D88 option stripes going down the rear bumper on a coupe and another on the El Camino with the stripes down the tail gate but both drawings had "CANCELED" stamped on them and the cancellation date on the drawing was 6/20/70. They were "redrawn & redesigned" on another drawing dated 6/22/70. Guess they changed their minds about the funky stripes and some pre-production car made the photo shoot for the manual.
