Jeff, The engine numbers look correct for 71SS, but keep in mind to only way to be positive it's an SS is to have the build sheet, or the pertect-o-plate (pop) 1966-68 the SS was a separate model with 138 being the first three numbers of the VIN, from 1969-72 the SS became an option package that could be had on several different models of Chevelle, with all the clone happy people out there, if I was going to buy this car as a true SS,I would want to see the documentation noted above. without it, you can not prove positive it's a true SS.
