It's pretty good, yep. 160lbs gone for a iron big block to ZL-1, and 90lbs reduction for iron small block to alloy Bowtie. Yup. $4,500 for the SBC block, and $5,500 for the ZL-1 block. This means 600-ish at the shaft. You could do this in the small block, but it would be a 400 rev-high power-house with compression ratio of 12+ and a monster mech-roller cam. Sexy engine for a race-stripped Camaro, but in a street Chevelle, you'd probably want to go for big torque. If I were doing it, I'd put the ZL-1 block and a set of AFR BBC heads at the top of the list, and then I'd go and mortgage my house. Twice. :) A Chevelle ZL-1 454 would be a bad-boy.
