Well, no one responsed to this email, but I found the problem Once again it is poor aftermarket parts, this time Ashley. I replaced the plastic len on my heater/AC control center which came with the black backing. On the right hand side of this control center is where the light goes. If you remove the clear lens cover and the black backing, you will see a green clear lens which covers the open where the light is. The black plastic was covering up this lens. The plastic lens is beveled on the right side to act as a prisms to reflect the light across the lens, lighting it. So there you go, if the black plastic is covering up the light and the prisms end of the plastic, nothing will light up. I cut the black plastic on that end and everything is OK. Hope that this my help someone else.

Subject: [Chevelle-List] Interior heater/ac control light

On my 1971 Chevelle the light for the heater/ac control is not lighting anything up, but the bulb is working. I pulled the socket out today and the bulb is working. I put in a larger bulb today, but I still do not have any light on the controls. Why is that? There is only one bulb on the right side of unit to light the control, but no light is showing. I am not sure how this one bulb is to light the whole control unit, but that is what I have. Does anyone know what is happening.
