What voltage will you run ....you can get 110V units that run up to 140 amps or you can go to over 250 amps if you can wire into 220........Miller makes good home based units ( Hobart is a brand name made by them as well)......many of these are set up to use shielding gas or flux core ......although gasless flux core welders are cheaper . Also while more expensive I am totally sold on the electronic helmut ...the lazy mans welding helmut  :)   These machines come in many set ups for amperage....the more expensive the more settings you have to weld at , most will weld 22 gauge sheet metal and the maximum thickness is limited by the amperage of the unit.   As for prices ....in Canada they sell for about $500 for a 110V gasless mig.......$750 for a gas/gasless unit ........and the sky is the limit for 220 V systems.   Your looking at about $1000.00 for a gas/gasless 110V   30-140 amp welder , with a 4 hour argon/co2 bottle , wire coil , Helmut and gloves.   That's here in Canada ......State side I am not familiar with pricing.    Mel 67 Malibu SS     Does anyone weld and have information on mig welders. I am wanting to buy a mig welder, does anyone have experience with these unit.
