I stopped to look at an 86 SS el camino today, and I've got a few questions for you. Owner was not around so I could not ask about details. But, for you: 1-Are Dash Pads available aftermarket - original was cracked pretty bad. 2- Door window weatherstriping? Cracked too. 3- Original style upholstery? Driver seat had a couple of small tears & burns. Rest of interior looked surprisingly good. Body was pretty straight with a repaint that looked a year or two old. Fiberglass cowl style hood. It was surprisingly sturdy, didn't bow or sag as I raised & lowered and it looked very well finished underneath. Driver door was very loose & sounded like things inside were loose/rattled. Passenger side was solid. Bed was very straight only a few minor dings. Dash had gauges and "Super Sport" script on glove box. Does VIN ID a true SS? On coupes, there is a sticker on trunk lid which details options, where is this sticker on an elky? Shifter was a T-Handle, but console did not have any kind of lens to tell you which gear you are in. Is this correct? Is correct tranny 200r4? It had an overhead console installed. It looked "factory" but I'm doubting that one was available - any info on this? Motor (305??) had open element air cleaner. So I'm assuming not stock carb. What should it have. Was cruise control standard on these? I didn't notice a transducer for it. I'm gonna stop by again this afternoonon my way to work. He's asking 5k. If it runs & drives well I may go for it.
