Vapor lock is caused by heat in the fuel lines. If you eliminate a big source of this heat, the mechanical fuel pump that's attached to the block, and use an electric pump and route the fuel lines accordingly, that should bypass the source of heat transfer that causes the vapor lock.  When I had a Holley on my engine, I used an electric pump and turned the fuel line around backwards and drew the fuel from the rear.  This not only eliminated the mechanical fuel pump but allowed for a bit shorter line and a cleaner (IMO) installation.

Guys,
I am curious what the solution is to having to pump gas up to the carb after the car has been sitting for a while. I know there are electric fuel pump options, but the two I knew of both had vapor lock problems. I'd love to be able to avoid having to crank and crank on the engine to pump gas up after sitting a while. Just curious what others are doing?
