Hey Dave - Sorry this is so long -   Ahh, those pesky Hondas...They get quite annoyed when ya wear em out with 30 year old fat block technology. I'm building a 70 as well.   OK, Bolting in a 12 bolt rear is as easy as unbolting the stocker, and sliding the 12 Bolt in it's place. You may want to consider new controll arm bushings at this point, more so consider rebuilding \ replacing the brakes, wheel cylinders, rear lines at this point. Stock components will suffice. You can also box the lower control arms or replace with SSM or Hotchkis components and add a sway bar....Speed \ acceleration is fun, but you gotta stop the car at some point.   The only words of advice on the motor that I can give you is that Big Blocks make huge horsepower, but also cost quite a bit more than the durable and trusted mouse motors. Check out Speed-O-Motive. The sell a ton of stroker kits fairly cheap (I believe entry 383 kit is $500, crank, pistons, rods, gaskets, rings bearings, etc,etc) to turn your 350 into a 500HP 383\391 CID Combo. SuperCharging is another option - -I've done it with big cubes, Blowers, stokers, etc...There is no substitute for Cubic Inches, other than large supercharged cubic inches. The bottom line is your budget.   Your 350 is a good place to start (and cheap since you have it - but definately look arounnd and pick your parts carefully), A set of small cc'd heads, a ton of cam, a whole lot of converter, a bunch of gear, a 750 cfm carb, headers and duals, and a big NOS system would have ya eating Hondas for lunch....   Keep your eyes on Chevelle.net in the parts, there's usually a 12 bolt or two in there...That's how I got mine.   Regards,   Nick     -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of David Hovanessian Sent: Monday, January 14, 2002 10:40 PM To: chevelle-list Subject: [Chevelle-List] building up a 70     I have got a 70 Chevelle with a 350 and a turbo 350 tranny.  I am about to get a job so I can start building my baby into a mean chevy.  I am tired of hearing all my fellow classmates talk about their damn hondas and how fast they are.  Well anyways I am wanting to put a big block into it like a 454 or something like that.  If I do that I am also going to replace the tranny with a 400 turbo and probably the rearend.  I am in auto service at tech school and we just took apart an engine and rebuilt it.  I do feel pretty comfortable with that part of the rebuild.  I was just going to ask how hard is it to put in a 12 bolt rear end.  What I mean what all is involved in it and what special tools are needed.  I am also wondering about the suspension and the other things involved.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  I am planning on getting the motor out of a junkyard so I will have some money left over to build it up to where nothing can touch me.  Would this be a good approach or would buying a block and crap be better.  Please tell me your opionons and where I should go on the net to find my stuff that I should look into buying.                      Thank you for reading this                                  Dave P.S.
