wendell I missed something along the way (not unusual). But if you are asking if the flywheel from the 350 will fit the 327, the answer is yes. As you said, the 400 is different and much later 350's (post 87?? -) with a 1 piece rear seal are also different. But what you have will work fine together. rick schaefer abilene tx ---------- Wendell Melrose <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> writes: From: Wendell Melrose <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [Chevelle-List] Chevrolet Flywheel Date: Thu, 17 Jan 2002 17:50:41 -0600 Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List ------------------------------------------------------------ The 350 is a GM Target replacement engine that I bought from a salvage yard in 1980. It was installed into my '69 El Camino and run until 1990 when I parked the El Camino. To make a long story short, the 350 was locked up and wouldn't turn over. This was several years ago.. The 327 is in my '47 Cj that also set for a long time. It has the '69 z28 stock clutch and flywheel so I will have to use the flywheel off of the 350. It looks like I'll have to pull both the 350turbo and engine as a unit and then do some parts switching. Anyone with a Hollander book may be able to look up the interchangeablity of the flywheel. I know from experience that a 350 flywheel cannot be used on a 400 ci. smallblock. Its not balanced correctly and will cause a lot of vibration. My El Camino will requiire a fair amount of work to put back on the road. I'm still looking for a cheap left front fender for it. The Chevelle interest from everyone on the list takes me back to 1966 when I bought a new '66 Chevelle 2dr hdtop, saginaw 4sp (ugh) and a stock 283ci. with only a 2bb carb. Some one had ordered the car for their daughter and didn't take delivery. I still have the sales invoice for that car. The list price of the car was $2347.00. The factory installed options cost $484. I had the dealer install a 3.70 positraction , cost $36.90. The 4sp cost $184.35 .. The delivered price of the car was $3159.60 . (this was 1966 dollars). I ordered a new 1969 RS Z28 camaro in Sept of 1968.. traded the '66 Chevelle in . Chevrolet didn't deliver the Z28 until mid January '69 because they were having problems producing the 302HP small blocks. Anyway the Z28 is another story.
