I made a mistake. Here is the first part of the AC Delco history.
1899-Albert Champion, a champion bicycle racer, leaves his native France and heads for Boston Massachusetts. There, Albert turns his hobby of making spark plugs into a business and names it The Champion Ignition Co.

AC stands for "Albert Champion"   but the family sold off that division of the business to GM/Delco who improved on the quality of the plugs is my understanding.

I always had problems with champions fouling plugs on small block chevys. Does anyone know what Ac stands for?
