For a daily driver 307, a stock  GM HEI should do you fine.  $20.00  +
new module + nice wires + cap + rotor   all for  less than $100.00 . 
Smile on your face - (never having to adjust points again) - priceless.  
I'm not sure that you would benefit from an MSD or similar unit.
