i personally do not start mine at all, sometimes i'll pour some lawn-mower
type oil in the carb as the car is running until it just stalls (before i put
it away for the winter) then in the spring i remove the plugs and put a
little drop of oil in each cyl & crank the engine over a little bit until my
oil pressure comes up (un plug your msd if equipped!!) - then reinstall the
plugs and let 'er fly.
i knew a guy who used to back off his rockers so his valves would close and
keep out the air- but i don't think this is necc.
starting it in the winter will just build up moisture in the engine and in
the garage and the fumes can't be too good for the paint. (heated garage??)
