For those of you who remember me I'm back on the list from my home now. I used to chat with you guys from work as P.Hernandez@texasmutual. Anyway its been about 2 months now and was going crazy not reading all the good tips you guys have. For the 1st time in my life I have never tried to put a car back to its original look. Its been a long journey trying to find a bunch of original stuff for the interior, engine bay, and trunk of my car at junkyards and where ever else you can think of you name it I've been there. I've discovered what seat belts go to what year and what door handles and locks fit my car and the ones that don't. I really didn't know how different a 69 chevelle really is compared to a 68 model in the interior and engine department. everything may almost look the same but it sure doesn't bolt in the same spots. I did find some great interchange stuff along the way like the big WS6 sway bar from a 1979 Trans Am, variable steering from a 1985 0r 86 El Camino SS. Boxed control arms from a 70 malibu station wagon "towing package I guess." I even located an original spare tire and jack on a 65 impala "The cradle kind," 1968 impala floor rubber mats which I don't think you can even buy them anymore and along with the same look steering wheel as the 68 malibu. OH! One more thing I even stuck a 1970 style chevelle remote mirror which was found on a 1973 malibu wagon. HA! The remote handle for the inside of the door came off a 68 buick :) You know, All this stuff is so expensive on catalogs. Well, I think all together I spent about $300.00 bucks and learned a big lesson. Its like orange & apples when you speak to a hotrodder and a person who loves to restore muscle cars to its factory specs. I now think its really a whole lot more interesting to restore cars then just stripping them down and sticking huge motors in them to go fast. Sorry for the long note, I'm like a little kid who just got a new bike!!! P.
