Gear drives make whining noise.  Also will not wear & stretch like a timing 
chain.  Cost more. On a purely performance per dollar basis for a street car 
I don't think they're worth it, but some things we buy just because we think 
they're cool.  If you want something different, I have an L-88 off road gear 
drive and camshaft (all new) that I never got around to using if you're 
interested.  It was an over the counter item in the 60/70's for racing.  
It's a 2 gear setup that turns the cam backwards.
