> 1. Oil lubed or oiless ? What are the advantages/disadvantages? Oil lubed, the oiless ones are noisy as can be and just seem to not be as efficient. Checking the oil every once in a while isn't that bad. > 2. 30 Gal 6hp craftsman for $279 > > or > > 3. 60 Gal Cast Iron twin cylinder oil lubricated pump for $329 + > shipping? I'd go with at least the 60 gal oil lubed, although check with a local supply house and like others said home depot or lowes or sams club. Stick with name brands and ou'll be ok (Coleman, Craftsman, IR etc). Also if you can swing it I really would go with a two stage unit. > 4. Would an oil lubricated pump get oil in the lines? Nope the motor is what is oil lubed. The air pump part is isolated via the drive belt. > I looked at Sams club, the only decent on there sells for over $800 and > can't find it online. Home Depot doesn't have any decent ones online. > Lowes has one online that's fairly decent. Take a trip out to some of the stores to get a look at them. Much easier to look at them and decide. Hey you know what you are looking for now, CFM, capacity, HP, stage and power supply needs; go out and compare them for yourself, a lot of the time there are more units in the store and selection varies from each store. > Anything else I should consider when buying one? > > > Steve Don't forget to check whether the units operate on 110 or 220 volts!
