Hey Cinci!
I was there in Biloxi during this cruise last year by
accident. Went there for a 3 week training session and found myself in
the middle of this. If you are trying to just get around town while it's
going on ....be prepared for big time delays. There are many many cars
there of all years, makes, and models.
The fact that they now have some pretty large casinos there plays a part
I am sure. One of the fanciest casinos I ever seen is there, and there
was some entertainment at the casinos going on as well. I remember among
them, Bowser from Sha Na Na was performing at one of the casinos.
The main road they cruise is right next to the beach. Many people park
along side and watch as the rest cruise two lanes wide down a long
straight stretch. There is also a shopping mall in Biloxi, and they have
some great shrimp prices, so bring an ice chest if you go.
Restaurant prices are average for a tourist town and the ones I went
into were ok, but not spectacular. But I am cheap :) I am sure hotel
prices there skyrocket while this cruise is going on.
Officially I think this cruise was supposed to go on for many miles and
include many towns, hence the name cruising the coast. Not sure if it is
supposed to extend to N'Oleans or not now. But in reality, all the
action was in Biloxi that I seen.
If you are military, or work for them, you might TRY to get a place on
base. I am sure many places offer discounts for travel.
