I had the Rochester Quadrajet carb rebuilt on my 71 Chevelle and only discovered afterwards that it is not the correct carb but rather from the numbers (#7042210QE 0872) on the carb, it is from a 1972 350 motor. I am experiencing a bogging or hesitation as soon as you depress the accelerator. I tried to adjust the two needle valves that are on either side, front of the carb but the left screw does not effect the engine at all? No matter if you screw it all the way in or out. The right screw will kill the motor when screwed in. I called the carb shop and he says that the screws will only effect the car at idle and not under power regarding the hesitation issue. He further blames my troubles on a vacuum leak. Another source tells me that anytime you can screw in one of these screws and it does not effect the motor there is a problem inside the carb and the carb shop needs to take responsibility? Is this true? I don't know which way to turn on this. The timing and dwell have been set right on specs but the hesitation problem is still there, also after running the car on the highway and you get off and say are at a stop light, the engine is running very rough and the car is slightly shaking unlike the way the engine ran before the high speed trip. The car's exhaust is broken (sounds like a truck) where the driver side exhaust manifold attaches to the exhaust pipes and is at the muffler joint now getting new headers, pipes and flowmasters. Am hoping the new exhaust will help cure some of the problems. Any thoughts guys? -- Jeff Fischer Lake Elmo, MN '71 Chevelle SS, 454, 4 spd http://home.attbi.com/~addss/chevelle.html ----------------------------------------------------- To Unsubscribe please visit www.chevelles.net/list.html To start a new topic, send mail to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
