What I had to do to get the hood to sit correctly was to ply with a bar to sit the back of the hood hinge as far down as it would go. This would mean that the bolt was at the top part of the  slot. Then I lifted the front part about 3/4 of the way up. This means that the bolt was almost at the bottom of the slot.
So the back part must go down using a bar to force it down (lifting on the hood does not work) and the front up almost all the way. The best way to do this may be with the hood off first, but aligning the hood again can be a big pain. The only problem is now the wipers will not hide or park all the way because it hits the hood, but I can live with that. If needed I can draw a picture. Email me if you need a drawing.

Keith,
Glad to hear you're up and running again.  What a great feeling!
You mentioned getting the rear of your hood to align correctly.
I have the same problem with my 71, Could you spell out exactly what you did to correct this.
Thanks,
Bob Belz
